* Depression
is a sadness which could last longer than usual for an individual and make a significant impact on a normal person’s activity. Depression may be the loss of feeling or interest or maybe the inability to do regular activities.  Counseling can assist the individual discover the root cause for his or her specific response to a circumstance that triggered the depression, and teaching skills for effectively regaining his or her normal level of mood. * Anxiety is feelings of worry, nervousness, or unease, that tends to manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally.  Mild anxiety is vague and unsettling, while severe anxiety can be extremely debilitating.  Anxiety is often triggered by stress in our lives. Counseling can assist in discovering the root cause for an individual's specific reaction to stress-provoking circumstances, and teaching the skills to effectively manage your stress. Anxiety is feelings of worry, nervousness, or unease, that tends to manifest physically, mentally, and emotionally.

* Grief is an emotional reaction to a significant loss.  Grieving is a personal experience. The process of grieving will be different for each individual experience. There is no "normal and expected" period of time for grieving.  Counseling can assist in processing the loss and learning the skills to respectfully move forward.  All of this is accomplished on the client's terms and timeline

* Self esteem is your internalized opinion of yourself.  High self esteem is crucial to establishing a positive attitude towards living. Your self esteem affects how you think, act, and even how you relate to other people.  Counseling can assist in recognizing how your self esteem may be affecting the important elements in your life, and ultimately learning the skills to increase and maintain a healthy level of self esteem.

 

* Anger management.  Anger is a natural emotion with functional value, which we all experience from time to time.

When anger becomes a full-blown rage, our judgment and thinking can become impaired and we are more likely to do and say unreasonable and irrational things.  Counseling can assist in teaching the skills to effectively manage your emotions during times of out of control anger.

are naturally occurring experiences that are different from our currently existing lives.  Life transitions often are faced with internal resistance.   Counseling can assist in recognizing the resistance, and helping to cope with the adjustments associated with the fears and uncertainties of your particular life transition.

* Couples & Family Counseling.  A Family Therapist is a professional trained in assisting couples and families improve their communication and live more functioning lives.  Family Therapists are professionals who are not personally invested in the couple’s or family’s life (outsider).  Family Therapists are trained listeners, observers and question askers.  Effective family therapists do not necessarily spoon feed couples and families with solutions, but instead are capable of looking at a family’s needs from a different perspective, ultimately assisting the family in discovering a more effective way of functioning.

* Oppositional Defiance is an ongoing pattern of uncooperative, defiant, and hostile behavior toward authority figures that seriously interferes with a child’s or teen’s day to day functioning.  Counseling can assist in teaching problem solving skills.

* Play therapy with a trained therapist has proven to be an effective mode for assisting children with a number of needs.  Play therapy is utilized to help children cope with difficult emotions and find healthier solutions to problems. Often, children have used up their own problem solving tools, and they misbehave, may act out at home, with friends, and at school.  Play therapy allows children to change the way they think about, feel toward, and resolve their concerns. Play therapy with a trained therapist has proven to be an effective mode for assisting children with a number of needs.  Play therapy is utilized to help children cope with difficult emotions and find healthier solutions to problems.
